Neil Wood – Health Work and Well-being Co-ordinator for the East of England
Neil Wood is the Health Work and Well-being Co-ordinator for the East of England. Co-ordinator posts in each region and Scotland and Wales were introduced in late 2009 and are part of Government’s response to the recommendations made in Dame Carol Black’s Review of the health of Britain’s working age population ‘Working for a healthier tomorrow.
Neil joined the Manpower Services Commission (Department of Employment) in 1976 and worked with its successor agencies and departments through to the Department of Work and Pensions in Jobcentres in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk before moving on to external relations activities at a regional level in 2002.
In 2007 Neil moved on loan to Government Office in the East of England to manage the Regional Director’s before taking up an opportunity to join the Department of Health presence in the region in July 2009.
